On Saturday, May 13, cyclists will line up in Lyndon, Vermont, and on the Wahoo RGT platform around the world to honor the legacy of Moriah ‘Mo’ Wilson on a “Ride for Mo.” Wilson was tragically killed on May 11, 2022, and marking the anniversary of that day with a ride to benefit her local trail community’s kid’s outdoor program, Kingdom Kids, seems like the perfect way to honor her life. The event is being organized by the Moriah Wilson Foundation, and the IRL option features both gravel and mountain bike alternatives.

“This is not a race but a day to join Moriah’s spirit on the roads and trails she grew up on and loved,” the event website notes. “This event is about bringing the community together with gratitude for life and inspiring each other to face the hard climbs together.”

The event is being organized by Wilson’s parents and brother Matt. “We want to allow our local community and the greater cycling community that’s felt the impact of this tragedy to have a day, an event, and a time to come together and support each other,” Matt Wilson told VeloNews. “To remember and honor Moriah and what she meant to each one of us.”

Kingdom Kids is an organization that Mo Wilson certainly would approve of: Not only does it encourage young Vermonters to get out and ride, it also encourages all other types of outdoor adventures. As a former skier, Wilson could relate to the urge to explore different modalities of playing outside.

Registration for the Vermont ride opens on February 24th at 10 a.m. EST and will be open to a limited number of riders for a 26-mile or 52-mile gravel ride, or mountain biking for the day at the famed Kingdom Trails. Registration also includes lunch and music post-ride, along with a swag bag from an impressive array of sponsors, including The Wildflower Inn, Wahoo Fitness, Specialized, The Feed, Lawson’s Finest Liquids, Skratch Labs, Kingdom Trails, Colavita Cares, Kingdom Kreperie, Smokin’ Something BBQ, Scenic Tents, Burke Mountain Academy. But if you can’t make it to Vermont or don’t score a spot, there’s no limit to Wahoo’s online ride on their RGT platform, where anyone can sign up for a 41-kilometer ride that begins at 9AM EST on May 13. There are few riders who’ve left a mark as deep as Mo Wilson has, and this ride is sure to be full of laughter, tears, and a deep passion for the sport of cycling.
